- Netwalker
-
- Netwalker is a mailbox utility that allows a port to be used to collect
- network connectivity information. This is designed to be used on Netrom/
- Thenet type nodes.
-
- Installation of netwalker is thru Desqview. It will require about a 38k
- window. The desqview parameters are the same for netwalker as they are
- for the mailbox. (See DV.DOC)
-
- To run Netwalker, open the window in desqview, and enter the parmeters
- for the node that you desire.
-
- Example: NW menu
-
- N Opts Port File Timeout node_call [node_call]
- Opts
- I=Collects node identification info
- N=Collect no extra data
- P=Collect node parameters
- U=Collect node version
- Q - quit
- cntl-f aborts
-
- N P C n6mpw.nod 30 n6mpw-1 <cr>
-
- What this means is 'Node, port C, collect node parameters, open file
- n6mpw.nod to collect information, with 30 sec timeout-1 starting at node
- n6mpw-1. If you add the additional node_call it will log the information
- from the perspective of the second node_call.
-
- The screen output will be exactly what you will see in the file. Netwalker
- will connect to the local node and query it for its routing information. It
- will then disconnect and reconnect to connect to the next node in the list.
- It will then collect its routing information. This will be repeated for as long
- as there are nodes to connect to. If a node that is in the routing list cannot
- be connected to then the timer will disconnect the tnc from the local node
- and go to the next node in the list.
-
- The information collected in the file is information about the node and its
- routing table. At the bottom of the file there is a summary of Netwalkers
- activity.
-
- To stop Netwalker just enter cntl-f and it will disconnect from the local pad.
- then enter q to quit and the window will be closed and the port returned to
- normal bbs activity.
